Judy Bradshaw grew up around the funeral business as friends of the family owned several funeral businesses in Huntington , W. Va. and eastern Kentucky . She was born in Huntington , W. Va. , graduated from Huntington East High and married her husband, Del , in 1961. She and her husband moved to Salem in 1968. Judy likes the staff at John M. Oakey & Son and the “old house makes it feel warm”; she started working here in 1999. “Everyone here works together with compassion and caring. Understanding the families’ pain and grieving, we care about each other as well.” Judy is a member of Salem Wesleyan Church , the choir and mission team; she went on the 2006 church mission trip to Guatemala . She and her husband have 2 married children, 8 grandchildren, and 1 great-grandson. Judy has made a past career in marketing and advertising and has been active in various civic groups in the Roanoke and Salem communities over the past 25 years. She enjoys spending time with family and friends and her hobbies include reading, cooking, decorating and playing with her mini-schnauzer, Pepper.
