Mrs.
Wanda Eloise Overstreet, 81, of
Salem
, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 13, 2007.
She was the wife of the late James M. Overstreet.
She was born on May 24,
1926 in
Roanoke
,
Virginia
. She was the daughter of the
late Charles and Bessie Akers. In
addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Overstreet, was preceded in
death by her daughter Diane and her son James Boyd Overstreet.
She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Douglas Akers,
Gordon Akers, and Derwood Akers. She
is survived by two brothers and sister-in-laws,
Clovis
and Alvin Akers and Boyd and Marie Akers, a sister-in-law, Julia Akers,
and numerous nieces and nephews. She
was a member of
Calvary
Baptist
Church
. She had been retired from
Medeco Locke Company in
Salem
since 1981. A funeral service
will be conducted at 2 PM on Monday, December 17, 2007 from the chapel of
John M. Oakey and Son,
Salem
, with the Reverend Roger Counts officiating.
Interment will follow at
Sherwood
Memorial Park
. The family would like to
invite all of Wanda’s family and friends to join them in celebrating her
beginning of eternal life in her heavenly home on Sunday, December 16,
2007 from 2-4 and from 6-8 at John M. Oakey and Son,
Salem
. In lieu of flowers, the
family suggests that memorial tributes take the form of contributions to
