Mr. Leslie Dudley Conner, 78, of Salem passed away Thursday, November 29, 2007 at The Glebe in Daleville , VA. Preceding him in death were his parents, Molly and Wayne Conner; and sisters, Loraine C. Denny and Phyllis B. Bush. Survivors are his wife of 54 years, Geraldine (Jeri) M. Conner; son and wife, Jerry and Joyce Conner, Daughter and husband, Aileen and Kelly Moore, son Mike Conner, son and wife Les and Lea Anne Conner, and daughter and husband Lisa and Rev. Danny Newman; seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Dudley was an elevator erector for 45 years at Salem Elevator, Dominion Elevator, and Piedmont Elevator Companies and at one time was president of the local elevator union. His favorite past times were bee keeping, fishing, and gardening. He was a honey and produce seller at Salem ’s Farmers Market for many years. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 AM on Saturday, December 1, 2007 from the chapel of John M. Oakey and Son, Salem , with the Reverend Danny Newman officiating. Interment will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park . The family will receive friends on Friday, November 30, 2007 from 7-9 PM .
