In Loving Memory of

Wesley Combs

Wesley Braxton Combs, loving husband, father and grandfather went home to be with the Lord September 21, 2006 at his residence in Roanoke .  He was born December 1, 1914 in Lacky, WV a son of the late Arthur and Dema Byrd Combs.   He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Paul and Ellie Combs; and four sisters, Ollie Baker, Mary, Nellie Bowman and Jetty Greer.   Mr. Combs was a retired coal miner and worked at Harris Hardwood and Virginia Brickyard following his retirement.  He was a member of the Roanoke Valley Cathedral of Praise.   He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Ivory Montgomery Combs; three sons and spouses, James Lee and Bertie Combs, Wesley J. and Joyce Combs and Bobby Ray and Martha Combs; two daughters and spouses, Janice and Dearl Burton and Shelby Jean Hall; one brother, William McKinley Combs; two sisters, Dorothy Panetta and Clara Shade; one sister-in-law, Mary Combs; fourteen grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.   Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Monday, September 25, 2006 from the chapel of John M. Oakey and Son, Salem with Pastor Harry M. Miller, Jr. officiating.  Interment will follow in Captain George Quesenberry Cemetery , Indian Valley .   The family will receive friends Sunday September 24, 2006 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 at John M. Oakey and Son.   Online
